Sonatas for Clarinet & Piano Op. 120 No 1 & No 2, Trio for Clarinet, Piano & Cello Op. 114.
Inspired by the clarinet playing of Richard Muhlfeld of the Meiningen orchestra, Johannes Brahms returned to composing late in his musical career, creating those pieces specifically for Muhlfeld to play.

Shopping yesterday, couldn't find much to peak my interest never mind force me to open my wallet, then this came over the in-store speakers. It's not my favourite violin concerto by a long chalk, but this is a very good version

Hmmm, what to play while I'm patiently waiting for a certain Bach recording to arrive - Haim, I hope it arrives this week
Currently trying to shake the house up with a Prokofiev battle (much easier to clean with the dust vibrating about).
The Andantino from the Prokofiev's G- Piano Concerto is one of my absolute favorite movements at the moment. Can't get enough of it. It's my double dose of caffeine. It just blows me away....
Sergei Prokofiev: Yundi Li (Piano); Conductor: Seiji Ozawa; Orchestra/Ensemble: Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra AND for comparison: Evgeni Kissin (Piano); Conductor: Vladimir Ashkenazy; Orchestra/Ensemble: Philharmonia Orchestra
Concerto for Piano no 2 in G minor, Op. 16
Maurice Ravel: Yundi Li (Piano); Conductor: Seiji Ozawa; Orchestra/Ensemble:

Doug,
I am waiting as well for two Bach recordings. The new Partitas double disc of Andras Schiff on ECM and Concertos with Julia Fisher on Decca.
Which one is arriving, the Hussong or the Tharaud?

If you can stand L.A.'s heavy from the late 80's (!), this one is not bad.

Haim,
The Stefan Hussong should come by the coming midweek! The Tharaud will come before Christmas. I'm actually going to be ordering the Martin Helmchen Brahm's and the new Schubert with Helmchen / Fischer in the next day or two. I really like the playing of Martin Helmchen and of course, Julia Fischer. You'll like the Bach. I'm sure.

The only place I know to go when I want to hear Wilhelm Kempff play the c- variations followed by Barenboim with the c+ variations.
Variations (32) on an original theme for piano in C minor, WoO 80
Variations (33) on a waltz by Diabelli, for piano in C major ("Diabelli Variations"), Op. 120

Very sweet singing, Mark. Gabby should have been on the field so they could all have seen her on top of hearing her.
