It's a Friday tradition in my world...

The end of another week. The wind is howling outside and rain hammering the patio window, which I have open and there is a good open fire on the go. A good bottle of red is open. On the turntable so far have been two of the greatest names in female rock history, in my opinion:

Preeminent over the last 15 years or so, for me, anyway...

A bit of hardcore

Later more soft, beautiful Hardeyesque stuff

I had a serious long-standing New Order fan staying the other week and played him this on newly acquired fresh vinyl - in the pub the next day he was telling everybody he'd heard Love Vigilante in a whole night and heard lots in the production for the first time...

then this:

I have this album and especially love Waiting for Superman. Anyone who is interested in the Flaming Lips and/or rock documentaries Fearless Freaks is fabulous. Saw them at Rock Ness last year - great live band.

Seems to be a lot of Beatles being played tonight. Just so happens I have been having a bit of a Beatlefest with a mate who has not heard the mono remasters. Not a pretty sight, or sound, listening to us singing along after a few scoops. Currently the White Album.

Doug

Doug,

Hopefully the bad influence will arrive soon and will be to your liking. You could tell me if I made the right choice going with Schiff's Bach Partitas instead of Murray Perahia's.

A short listen before driving back to the city to see a play:

...because this is a really nice recording that I enjoy very much it will start the first music tonight. Haim, my Schiff will arrive in a few weeks. I really like both Schiff and Perahia so it will be a tough one for me to look at this objectively but I'll let you know if you simply must buy the Perahia as well Winker
