Any thoughts, Adrian? A bit dull or is it me?
Hi Haim - I've found this one a bit dull so far (two or three listens) but I'm prepared to stick with it for a bit. Maybe my expectations of this one were to high...
Regards
Nigel
I agree - had it on in the car yesterday and did not get past the second track. I think this trios other albums (not on ECM) are better.

Mat, glad to see someone else giving E.S.T. a shot. So many other good albums to try if you like this one.....From Gagarins Point of View, Seven Days of Falling, Viaticum, Tuesday Wonderland etc etc.

Adrian,
What was todays show like??
A good day out - me, JamieL, Mike 7 and Fixedwheel. Air Scupture very good, Radio Massacre International - not good. Chinese meal very nice indeed - great duck. Callisto - very impressed with their version of mellow electronics and Brendan Pollard with Free System Projekt, very good to close as well. A long day but a good venue and I have loads of pics to work through now.

Inspired to play by Oliver's Japanese CD's in the system pics thread. I bought this CD at a petrol station at Ayers Rock Australia. Always reminds of driving through the outback.

Ahh, the riddle is solved.

Nigel & Adrian,
I am glad that it is not just me. I listened to the disc twice today and so far I could rate it as pleasant music suitable for afternoon's tea and biscuits.

There is a lot of good competition in the piano trio field and for me many others are much more exciting. I have heard others rate this album though.

Wasn't ever so keen the first time I played it. My impression was that Iyer's piano playing seemed to emphasise the lower and middle registers, and the whole sound was too "earthy" for my taste. A few listens later, I'm really enjoying it.
How was Kenny Wheeler the other night?

It was fine. Kenny is getting old now still playing his trumpet approaching 80. All sounded fine but nothing that was wow. I only stayed for the first set as I had a very early start the next morning and bed was more tempting than another hour of Kenny.
