How was Kenny Wheeler the other night?
It was fine. Kenny is getting old now still playing his trumpet approaching 80. All sounded fine but nothing that was wow. I only stayed for the first set as I had a very early start the next morning and bed was more tempting than another hour of Kenny.
Now you know why I stayed home, that being said, I find it amzaing to have the chance to still see some of these legends play.

quote from a blog: There’s a huge variety of quality music (well over 10 hours of recordings) to enjoy, crossing several genres and many projects led by Maddeford under various names. Visit his listening lounges to browse roughly by genre (piano duo, songs in French, songs in English, lab, and others), the library for lyrics, lead sheets, scores, and information lounges describing each project.
Hi Jeff,
I hope you enjoy it. Here is how it looked like when it had a physical incarnation in 1993:

Isn't Ralf cute ?

It was a rainy day in Hell
When the Devil took his dog for a walk
And the Devil said "RALF
What am I going to do ?
Business is slow
And I'm getting the blues
Yes business is slow
And I'm getting the blues"

"The cycle, which in 1731 was the first group of works to be published by Bach himself, represents a unique stylistic synthesis of the suite form with a particular emphasis on most varied and imaginative opening movements. In his 1802 biography of Bach, Nikolaus Forkel famously wrote that “such splendid compositions for the clavier had not been seen or heard before… so brilliant, harmonious, expressive and constantly novel are they.” Compared to his London studio recording of 1983 this second rendering on disc demonstrates Schiff’s stylistic development towards more freedom, sonic depth and sheer pleasure of phrasing. The rather unorthodox sequence of partitas – 5 – 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 – draws an ascending line of keys leading from G major to e minor."

Hi Oliver
Brett is an artist brought to this thread by Maurice (mOomoO). This is his newest release - yesterday in UK and today in US. Brett was singer for Brit band Suede.
If you are inclined to try him, "Wilderness" is the place to start. Hauntingly beautiful, Brett's unique voice backed simply by acoustic guitar, piano and strings.
After just one listen, I like the new one as well, a little more baroque.
Listen to samples (Spotify, amazon) or mySpace and make sure you like the voice - if so, it is all good from there, and more often, excellent

the ani will wait for later, when I can turn it up a bit to hear the simple perfection of her, the lyrics and the guitar. it is still early here so trying to keep the levels down at the moment.
another new one to me
Shelley Short "Captain Wild Horse"
reminds me of Neko Case and Rachel Harrington.
very nice.
