And some stuff I'm almost ashamed off, but had great fun listening to:

Sorry but every time I see one of their albums this phrase pops in my mind:-
Mrs Smith what shall I do? I've only got 3 bullets and there are 4 in Motley Crue!

Same old Hampstead
Ken Hom wok set
Dead Sea bath salts
Jog proof iPod
Iron age hill fort
Long term roadworks
High tide bird watch
B & Q Homebase
If Jesus came to Earth today
They've crucify him straight way
Upon a cross of MDF
And they'd use No Need For Nails
Ship-shape farmhouse
Dry stone wall chart
Cashback foot spa
Straight down Ladbrokes
Low cost school trip
Ramraid Oxfam
Christ that sun's hot
Yes that's right sir
Oh help me Mrs Meddlicot
I don't know what to do
I've only got three bullets
And there's four of Motley Crue
Spoiling Good Friday my ex-love sent to me
Twelve drummers singing
Eleven chairmain dancing
Ten teachers whinging
Nine stewards flapping
Eight christening invites
Seven cows a barking
Six vicars strumming
Nick f****** Knowles
Four boring words
Carphone Warehouse and Matalan
And a pull up at Bangor-on-Dee
I'm driving backwards at peak hour
Along the Edgeware Road.

Chief, how does Von compare to Sigur Ros' later releases? I've got most of their other things (including a couple of EPs), but have never bought Von (and don't like trying things on Spotify etc--it makes it too easy to dismiss something that requires repeated listening to appreciate)
Nathaniel, I’m probably not the best person to ask, as the only others I have are Ágætis byrjun and ( ), though I’ve heard Takk a few times (mainly on trailers for various tv programmes, of course).
Von is much more experimental, with a darker, more sparse sound that’s low on melody and high on eerie, often unsettling, ambient noises. In the middle of all this, it comes a something of a surprise to find the My Bloody Valentine / Slowdive-ish Myrkur - a proper (shoe-gazing) song.
It's an album that offers a few indications of what was to follow, but not many, so I can't guarantee you'll like it. It's not the easiest record to listen to, and as you suggest, it also takes a few plays to get into.
Overall though, well worth hearing if you like Sigur Rós.

Always good to hear something new from Bristol's finest...
Massive Attack - Splitting The Atom:
The last track - Psyche, featuring Martina Topley-Bird - is excellent. Still not really feeling the rest, if I'm honest.

SHM vs XD
The XD wins hands down IMHO. More detail, more everything.

Sometimes after a hard day you need some soft soothing vinyl sounds to relax to.
