Why, because I have had a especially trying day at work today and I need an uplifting, feelgood album to start my evening and this album is superb.

2008 Remastered CD Version. Worth it for the bonus track Elsie's Theme from The Sicilian Defence - a great piano solo.

It is always Bavouzet versus Michelangeli when it comes to Debussy's piano music. I could say that Bavouzet plays it like a Nait 3 (a bit warmer and slower) while Michelangeli is more like a Nait 5i (sparkling and faster).

Haim, I think the wonderful Bavouzet recordings are playing a trick on your perception : ) Bavouzet is actually the 555 and Michelangeli is the CDX2 (without XPS2) Eek Maybe on an individual piece here or their he might play faster but overall Bavouzet is the more fleet of "fingers". It may appear to be slower because of the wonderful accoustics (and beautiful sounding piano) plus Bavouzet's clean playing and control.

Cheers,
Doug

CD2: No. 9 in e-flat+ and No. 19 in F+. I'm very happy with these recordings and would recommend these. In the 1970's, one of the very first Beethoven Piano Sonata albums I bought was with Rudof Buchbinder at the piano. Maybe that's why I like his playing?
