Ok, after the sophistication of yesterday's ECM session, let's regress (progress ?) to the formative years of mid 1980's Perth. This is the only Gurus album I currently have although all the songs are infused into the memory along with the heat, sand, zinc cream and, oh yes, the girls.

Has prompted me to hunt this out, as it is a while since its last spin on the LP12

IZ - The man and his music, In Concert

I returned from holiday in Hawaii last millennium with both a shirt and CDs. The shirt still gets worn on 'special' occassions and the CDs most definitely get listened to. IZ was great in every way.

I'm a big IZ fan too, if you don't have it give this one a try.

Probably. But haven't heard it on vinyl in 25 years - sure did play it a lot back then.

Oliver,

Same musician, totally different styles. Because of the instrument's limitation, he is playing the Bach Suite slower than usual and on Uncommon Ritual those guys are breaking the sound barrier.

Have a good Sunday,

Haim

I only really knew Victoria Bergsman from her laidback vocals on Peter Bjorn and John's Young Folks, before taking a chance on this, her second album as Taken By Trees.

One of my favourites of the year.

And now, her recent cover of Sweet Child O' Mine, featured in John Lewis's ad campaign for Christmas, is soon to be released as a single. Great stuff, and something that will hopefully bring VB to the attention of a wider audience.
