For those who don't know the work of The Walkabouts, why not make 2009 the year you discover them?
This album is on Spotify.
I do, and I like you previous suggestion very much (New West Motel). But I don't know this one so I must check. And I notice from AMG that they produced quite a number of albums!

I enjoy that a lot, Gordon. But my lack of ability to really focus the last few years has kept me from the full lyrical impact. It will be an early hours weekend under-the-headphones choice soon to try and gather that all in.

The Bench Connection
First saw this posted here by C P. If this is indicative of C P's taste in music and radio producing work, I would love for C P to frequent here and share more. The two main players in Bench Connection are Matt Deighton, who I have come to like very much, and Chris Sheehan, currently of Low Lanterns, with only an ep at this time, but hopefully more releases in the near future. Quality stuff if it meets your tastes in acoustic pop (such as Blind Pilot).

It is more Sagas than Ragas with all the yard work today. The weather couldn't have been nicer.

This version was recommended to me by a Forum member in 2001.

Amiina "Kurr" (first listen)
amazon - "Amiina is an experimental quartet (who can often be found playing live and working with fellow popular Icelandic band Sigur Rós), merging violins and cellos with ambient electronics." My first thought - Brett Anderson's "Wilderness" without the lyrics. Hypnotic chill.

Hey Maurice, good to see you around here.
I've just been playing the above after I saw your post... and I liked the cover.
I don't have many records from the 70s, but it reminds me of Rumours somehow. I guess that's the idea...

... and in a kind of similar retro style:
I read an amusing Phoenix review a while ago that said if singer Thomas Mars wasn't Sofia Coppola's partner, no one would be bothered about them.
After loving their first couple of albums, I wasn't sure about the last one, but this one's excellent.
