Yes - Tales from Topographic Oceans

Jon Anderson's lyrics may be self-indulgent hokum, and the music meandering, but it's still a corker. My 'Yes' hierarchy goes something like:

  1. Close to the Edge ('cos And you and I is superb)
  2. The Yes Album (it rocks)
  3. Fragile (mixed in with some of the cringe-worthy solo efforts (Rick Wakeman should be ashamed) is some great music)
  4. Going for the One (Wonderous Stories is cute and I've always thought of Awaken as Yes's Echoes, though Close to the Edge runs it close)
  5. Tales from Topographic Oceans

Stuff including and after Tormato, is so-so (though I quite like Talk). So though Topographic is far from being my favourite, it's still a good album.

I am a hairy old school prog-rocker (don't like modern prog rock much--it's too cold), though I do occasionally shave off my beard and cut my hair short.

"One of 'em has eyes like Jolly Ranchers...beautiful girl." The best hi-hop album ever made. Bar none.

"Can I Smoke in Here?" Big Grin (I totally and utterly hate smoking, but when Ry sings about it, it seems great...)
