Lontano, what's the 'Black Triangle' all about?

"Black Triangles" are 1st generation CDs released by EMI-Toshiba in Japan, during the initial launch of the CD format, in 1983. The name is derived from the label design that was used on the CD.
Most stayed in print for less than a couple of years. In general, they're highly sought after because they are reasonably flat transfers of the Japanese masters used for each title.
You can see the Black Triangle on the CD picture here. They command quite a price depending on the album. This copy of the Lamb, in a less recessionary market, might go for $125+. If you had an Abbey Road Black Triangle, that can be a lot more.

Oh, that's interesting---I think I have some of them (I lived in Japan back in the 80s). I'll have to look them out.
I've also got a handful of 'not for resale' EMI pre-release demo CDs that I was given by my brother who was given them by a Japanese girlfriend who worked for EMI. I can't remember which (my CDs now live packed away in cardboard boxes since I've gone 'putery), but one was Pink Floyd's Ummagumma (A saucerful of secrets, live--yummy). Don't think it had a black triangle, though. Can't remember all the others--King Crimson's Beat, and a Penguin Cafe Orchestra album were in there I think. I've got a nasty feeling T'Pau (anyone remember them?) was one of them too. But they were probably later than early 80s.
I'm not much of a collector.

"Epistrophy," a Thelonious Monk tune that uses an epistrophe of notes.
One always learns something from Monk.

More from the 3" department... Lontano's fave drummer, or so I'm lead to believe.

I know this is a game I can't even make the blinds on, so I'll stop now before I embarrass myself further.
