Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion

All on vinyl.

One of my favourite bands at this time. Great live. Stayed in a mobile home at the Findhorn Foundation in the summer (where Mike SCott lives) but didn't see the man himself.

Hadn't listened to this in a few years.

This still sounds good, to me anyway. She married Paul Simon I think.

Ripping my collection a few CD's a day and listening to this on iPod right now.
(girlfriend next to me is watching TV...)

Got this album while in the Service almost 20 years ago.
Maybe I should listen to some more of Al Di's work.
(Like I said earlier: SO much music and SO little time Frown )

Edit: I meant to express: SO much to look forward to Big Grin

Miaskovsky - Cello concerto, cello sonatas 1 and 2 - Kyrill Rodin, Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Konstantin Krimets

If you're not familiar Miaskovsky's cello concerto, it's gorgeous. This recording's not bad either (though I'd prefer an extra hint of robustness, now and again)

Listening to this reminds me how much I like the trumpet and horn and how much I dislike the sax.
There is actually one thing I like about the sax and that is Candy Dulfer for obvious reasons.

I cannot seem to find some good albums containing good trumpet and horn.

Any Suggestions?

Not sure what you would like as I cannot see the image, but would this help ?
French horn artists

If you click on a name, you'll get to the artist page, from which you can click on the Credits tab where you'll find the albums where she has played.

Maybe try Tom Varner and you'll find some Miles Davis for instance, or Vincent Chancey and you'll get Sun Ra or Lester Bowie.

I'm afraid it won't click because there are two saxes in it, but I like this one:

Tom Varner, Swimming

Anyway it's a good call and I'm interested too! Smile

Hi Debs, regarding this. Looks interesting. Is it available on cd do you know? Thank you. Paul.

hello paul,

A search on amazon uk reveals many Stuttgart chamber Orchestra/Muchinger versions available on cd, but not enough info' so i haven't a clue if they are the same as this box-set...
But never mind; this box-set is a special vinyl issue celebrating the 30th anniversary of the orchestra, the 25th anniversary of their collaboration with Decca, and Karl Munchinger's 60 birthday... the harpsichord concerto's LP is the best imho but i do like George Malcolm (have a couple of his solo harpsichord works on LP too) but this is a very good version of the Brandenburg's has an edgy rawness and a live performance feel, but imho this is not as easy on the ear as Trevor Pinnocks excellent Brandenburg's (especially his 6th with the pair of viola da gamba use that i love so much).

A few months ago i purchased this via amazon, very recommended and cheap as chips too! : )

hope this is helpful

Great album - free jazz with just enough melody to stop me running away with my hands over my ears!
