Dean..One of my true favorite albums.
It is a fantastic recording, although has dated a bit. 'Montok Point' is still fantastic. Strange Cargo III is very similar and has 'Water from the Vine', if you like this, it is worth getting. The first two Strange Cargo albums are not as good.
I saw him perform with/as Strange Cargo at the Astoria in 1997, it was a superb gig.
I think he reworked the Strange Cargo albums with a New York singer who was living in London at time, released it as 'Ray of Light'.

Now listening to Genesis 'Hammersmith 1976', with Bill Bruford on drums.

Chysalis Records Ltd. @ 1984
I bought that on vinyl when it came out. I played it once and then gave it away.
Whilst I still wouldn't buy it [again], I might have been a bit rash on reflection...
steve
Steve,
back in the 80's i hated this style of music (being brought up on prog-rock) but i recently acquired this album within a 100 lp collection for just £10 (i certainly wouldn't have picked this album out especially, it just came with the bargain bunch) but to my surprise is plays quite tunefully and is enjoyable, the music isn't too bad, just the singing a bit dull...
when i cleaned this in the RCM, i thought it was a double album, but realised for some funny reason i have two copies in one sleeve!
...perhaps i should send you the spare one!
nymph
nymph,
Ah, I too was steeped in prog & "underground" music as it used to be known. That may well be the explanation.

Thanks for the offer of the spare.

Jamie,
I have Strange Cargo III I bought it when it came out. I had already known a few William Orbit remixes like Zobi La Mouche & Nitzer Ebb from clubs I went to in the 80's so was really into Orbit for a long time before he became famous. Have you heard any of his Torch Song stuff? I have this album which is excellent as well.

Kuma,
No unfortunately all my William Orbit stuff is on CD but there are vinyl versions out there if you are looking.
