Why? Just imagine the creativity and freedom of 60's Pop music supplanted into the 21st century with much boisterousness added you get Animal Collective. I am listening to a 180g DMM re-issue of their 3rd album.

"beautifully crafted title track, that shows the universe what an underrated guitar talent Alex Lifeson is. Beginning with classical guitar, which belongs in a masterclass, which then progresses into a solid piece of trademark Rush, complete with thumping, intricate bass lines and precision percussion, which is perfectly intertwined with virtuoso guitar work. Track 2, "Xanadu", is one of the greatest pieces of music, that we were privalleged to listen to in the last century. From the synthesized vision into a utopian dreamworld, we are taken on a journey by sublime guitar work and percussion that is still ahead of it's time, almost a quarter of a century later (check out the version on "Exit....Stage Left", for a masterclass in perfect live music). Geddy Lee's bass is precise and uncompromising, whilst his keyboard skills are introduced with virtuoso precision."

On vinyl First experience of Mono as discovered in this room. Very much like Sigur Ros without the nonsensical lyrics. Huge scale , would like to see them live. Cool

Black Triangle, my favorite disc at the moment.

Darcy mentioned that you were loving it Oliver.

No sign of the new addition yet?

Jussi Björling singing duets - he's probably in the top 5 of tenors from the recorded era, if not no. 1. This disc is just a delight, you could play it on a dansette and the music would just shine through. It's a cliché, but he could sing the telephone book and it would still be worth hearing.

Looking forward to that one as well. But I just wish AF would update their site regularly.

Can't remember who posted it on the other forum but I believe one of the releases for June is a Billy Idol disc. Not sure if it is cd or vinyl. Not exactly one of my favs.

Heartily agree Huwge! Absolutely sublime, gloriously rich and liquid tone. Not at all nasily. My favourite recorded tenor.

Che gelida manina - wow.

Why? Beautiful and captivating music, beautifully recorded. I know we say it a lot, but 'stunning'.

Amongst the several jewels of contemporary West African music you will find a fantastic version of 'The Man I Love'. When you're used to the seminal versions by Billie Holliday and Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli, there's a lot to measure up to. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks James, I'll give this one a try. I'm listening to quite a bit of African music lately. Have you heard the latest Oumou Sangare album? It is really good.
