Jon Anderson ' Olias of Sunhillow', Chris Squire 'Fish out of Water', continuing my Yes binge.
I tried Steve Howe 'Beginings', but was very disappointed.

Einojuhani Rautavaara - Cantus Arcticus - Leipzig RSO - Pommer
Cantus Arcticus is lovely--modern, but unchallenging classical mood music (perhaps that sounds derogatory?) overlaid with bird sounds. It works.
Unlike my computer.
I was someway into String Quartet No. 4 (another piece on this album), when my server (where my hard-disk based music lives) died. I think the power supply died. There were two (it's a proper server, with a backup power supply), but the first one died many years ago (it's an old server!). Serves me right. I just hope the HD read head thingameejig didn't go crashing into the disk and kill it, 'cos I've got no backup (besides re-ripping all the CDs).

David Sylvian and Russell Mills 'Ember Glance', Brian Eno 'Thursday Afternoon'.
Late last night when too tired to do anything really, a couple of ambient albums, both created for art exhibitions/installations. The Sylvian is OK, but is a little dark.
Eno's 'Thursday Afternoon' is a lovely piece of music, neither happy, nor sad, the easiest way I could describe it is the musical equivalent of floating in a clear blue pool, on a sunny day. Not music to do anything other than create a pleasant background.
Something similar Eno made as an entertainment with similar music is Fireflies, gentle music, and just click your cursor on the image, release, move. It is great entertainment for little children, and big ones too.
Fireflies

Well I started with this, and I quite liked it when I bought it a few years ago. There is a certain verbal inventiveness even if Mike Skinner has a touch of the mockney about him. There is also a sample of the New World Symphony in there which lent it a little credibility. But now, in the here and now, it just seems too juvenile. Must be my metabolism is slowing down.
So naturally I fled to this - Pergolesi Stabat Mater on the HM Sacred Music box set.
