Have a nice Holiday season, Haim.

It has been wintery across the nation the past couple weeks.

Haven't listened to this old friend all through for close on 25 years. Still stands as a monument, and is perhaps their finest hour. Oh...and solved the riddle of the secret backwards message in Empty Spaces at last.

Same to your and your family, Jeff, have a good and merry Christmas.

It was not so bad today and I was able to spend a couple of hours wandering with the camera in the fields. I think that it is the guys on the East Coast who are getting all the snow.

Regards,

Haim

MANDRE - TWO

Mandre is Andre Lewis, a keyboard player who has previously worked with Buddy Miles, Ike and Tina Turner, Frank Zappa and Labelle. His live keyboard work with Zappa was particularly innovative. This album was recorded in 1978, about eighteen months after he left Zappa's band.

It sounds dated but space funk didn't get much better than this.

Motown vinyl but also transferred to CD-R using LP12/Armageddon/ARO/Troika, NAC52/Supercap and Pioneer PDR-509

Nice to see you have such an extensive ECM collection Tim. I have not played that album in years. Will have to dig it out. In fact now spinning on imac now.

Its a fine album with the choice of Waldron, who played with Mingus and Holiday, perhaps marking both an end and a beginning. Anyway it sets the compass for the label.

I'm not off the boat until about 3.30pm. I haven't seen any weather/traffic reports today but I'm not expecting a quick drive home. Perhaps 10 ish tonight? But at least going in the right direction! Smile
