Led Zep - Classic Records 200G - virgin vinyl. Again, I am impressed with the quality of these classic records releases. Now out of print, they are fetching good money on the bay.

Let's revive the Mod revival with some nourishment from the Jam. Lots of strong numbers on this album..including the iconic That's Entertainment.

Or even the early 1980 pressings.
The production IMO Is alot better.
Same goes for the cds done by Barry D.

Stu - how do you know - have you got these new ones? They are very well regarded. Anyway it would be fun to do a bake off against your original copies.

Oliver could bring his 38 different CD pressings along as well.

Cheers

On CD:-

I'm assuming a remaster as there are additional 1999 sleeve notes.

Munch,

I have recently heard Led Zep III on original vinyl and also Classic Records 200g. Unfortunately for my wallet, the Classic Records release was significantly better and I took the plunge and ordered from Acoustic Sounds. Cost me a packet in total, but the sound IMHO is a lot better.

Regards

Richard

Richard - that's interesting to hear. I have never heard the originals but I went and bought all the Classics as they had a very good reputation. I just like to get the newest, cleanest pressings I can and it seems that going by current prices, these were some of my better investments of recent times.

Cheers

Adrian,

I took the plunge and bought III; IV and Physical Graffiti. III and IV are particularly good. I am going to have to save up for Houses of the Holy!

I do agree with you though about getting the newest and cleanest pressings. It was just a bit unfortunate that I didn't buy these when they were first released by Classic Records.

I have bought a few other Classic Records releases at more sensible prices recently and they have all been excellent, both in the sound and the packaging.

Regards

Richard

Not one crumb this time...it is one of the many and varied advantages of having a French belle famille on hand with many years of culinary experience. Occasionally I contribute a home made Christmas pud.

Classic Records 200G - first play, disc 4 - Stairway, Going to, Whole Lotta

Some joker is trying to sell a new copy of this on amazon for £700. New CD, without the snap, crackle and pop, is £11.48. Ebay prices from £150 up. Madness. I bought my copy for £40.
