Doug and Haim,

how does Martin Zeller's violincello play compare to that of Maurice Gendron?

Debs

Debs,

I am not familiar with Gendron. I have the suites played by Starker, Rostopovich and Yo Yo Ma (my least favorite). I enjoy Zeller more because on top of his superb playing I also end up with an intimate recording and a great sound. I just get into the music more with him.

While you are at it, the other MA which Doug posted today, Ginastera's piano music, as well as Ito Ema's Goldberg Variations are very special discs which are on sale now on the MA site.

I believe it is George's aunt, his dad's sister.

I just did the shoot out between the MoFi and the SACD last night, the MoFi won.

Disclaimer: I can only play the redbook layer of the SACD.

Some Kraftwerk poetry

She's a model and she's looking good
I'd like to take her home that's understood
She plays hard to get, she smiles from time to time
It only takes a camera to change her mind

She's going out tonight, loves drinking just champagne
And she has been checking nearly all the men
She's playing her game and you can hear them say
She is looking good, for beauty we will pay

She's posing for consumer products now and then
For every camera she gives the best she can
I saw her on the cover of a magazine
Now she's a big success, I want to meet her again

This album is quite heavy on the bass (common comment on forums) when played loud. I might go and try out the older pressing to see how compares. Still mighty fine Smile

From Wiki:

A common urban legend surrounding the chorus is that, when played in reverse, will be heard as, "It's fun to smoke marijuana." A spokeswoman for Hollywood Records (Queen's current US label) has denied that the song contains a backward message. In 2008, DJ Lobsterdust released a mix of the song called "It's Fun to Smoke Dust" that combines the original with a recording of Gary Greenwald's 1982 rant about the alleged subliminal message in the song. What have they been smoking?
