Miles,

I love Michale Franks.
I don't think this is a milestone album sich as Sleeping Gypsy or Art of Tea, but a decent time passer and wind down music.

Miles,

An odd thing is that when I first time listened to this album, I didn't think much of it, but now with a decent record player, it is a bit more compelling. ( fast forward 22 years now: the album release was '82 Smile )

I recall I was disappointed as it wasn't as good as One Bad Habit which was album before the Objects of Desire.

I have a fond memory of playing this record to death.
He always get great back up musicians. Not exactly popular amongst many, but I enjoy the musicianships.

Now more down tempo chill...

Reunion's Eona is always calming.

One of my favourite DJ from NYC's Body & Soul.
This is a compilation CD of the tunes that influenced his work.
A diverse collection of funk, soul, R&B, underground disco and house not surprising from the man who has over 45,000 records.

On Vinyl
Catchy, distinctly British pop, with sophistication, some keen social commentary, and an impressive amount of variety considering that it contains music recorded in a span of less than a decade. The songs are alternately entertaining and poignant, and usually both.

Big Easy - OST, good movie, great soundtrack: a very nice balance of New Orleans / Cajun musical genres and perfect for a sunny day

Another disc associated with fine weather, first heard in a park in Copenhagen and this, her first, is my favourite Lisa Ekdahl disc. Don't worry that you can't speak Swedish, just a beautiful voice with great acoustic accompaniment

Why? I'll quote someone else!

"Irresistible and playful live album. Close your eyes, open your ears: you're in Paris Place Pigalle, then in the streets of Buenos Aires, you,re in Memphis and you land in Jamaica!"

I would add 'Algeria' too.

Apparently the chinese reception for these concerts was luke warm at best. The Chinese audience didn't understand the music and kept talking through them (the only bit they liked was the laser show)In find this a fine live album which I regularly revisit. Some classical oriental music into the mix makes for a interesting album.
