~<>~ Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975) ~<>~

Symphony no.3 "The First of May"
in E flat major, Op.20 (in one movement)

The Yurlov Russian Choir ~
director Rosalia Peregudova
Art Director Stanislav Gusey

THE USSR MINISTRY OF CULTURE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Conductor Gennadi Rozhestvensky

~<>~

Playing the second LP of 6 LP box-set. Hearing some extremely good results from this 1980's pre-owned Russian vinyl.
Musically compelling, and enjoyable to wonder if this Rozhestvensky version is even better than the superb Kondrashin on Malodiya cd! : )

Finding my way through Bach's Solo Violin Partita #2, played by

Janine Jansen
John Holloway
Julia Fischer (now)
Hilary Hahn
Gidon Kremer
Itzhak Perlman (The Ciaconna has a scratch that even iTunes rip couldn't heal. D'oh !)

very enjoyable program, and iTunes / wireless makes it so comfortable to sequence these artists...

cheers
Stefan
