Racks: Isoblue, Hutter or Fraim?

Posted by: Jack911 on 26 November 2003

Is there anyone out there who has listened to all of these different racks and can give an opinion on the comparative strengths and weaknesses of each?

Also, considering that the Isoblue and Hutter are relatively close in price, are there any opinions on which of these is the best for Naim equipment?

Jack,

Too subjective for anyone to say. Listen to all three and make up YOUR mind.

I think the Isoblue has a marginal lead over the Hutter. The Fraim has a fairly big lead over the other two as you'd expect given the price.

The isoblue is simply more fluid and organic than the Hutter which is why I think it wins this contest. However, the Hutter has marginally more detail retrieval. Since the emotional connection is dependent on a fluid and organic sound the isoblue wins, but I can understand why people may choose the Hutter over the isoblue.

The Fraim is the best in this context. The margin depends very much on the kit you've got on it since this defines the minimum that you're going to get out of the system.

Frank.

Thank you slim and Frank for your valuable advice.

I too lean towards the Isoblue, albeit only on aesthetic grounds since I have not heard any of them.

I'm sure that Fraim is the best, but as Isoblue is only 30% of the cost per shelf it is very hard to justify.

That makes the Isoblue a bit of a bargain!

I use Fraim, but I love Isoblue for its v.f.m. and timeless, beautiful simplicity; incorporated in a modular design.

As much as I love the sound that Fraim makes; I have to concede that it looks messy from the side and rear.

put a coin under each of your spikes sit back and play some music.... well worth the change

I have Isoblue, Fraims, QS Q4 and QS RR as well as the D-wave by the boys at Neat
the Isoblue is great....Fraim /D-wave are better... QS Q4 /QS RR is in last place...we just put NAC 282/S-cap Nap 250/ CDX2 XPS on two Isoblue stands you can not falt it ....I don't use the spikes that come with it I used Sound care super spikes, even on carpet takes the Isoblue up a level
