Wanna upgrade!

Happy New Year to you all!
Current sistem CD5, 112, 150, FC2, Intro2.
Not too happy with the bass on the sistem which may stem largely from the Intro2. Living in the middle east so not many speaker choices. Have tried placment of speakers all around the room (with and without dealer).
What would be the most cost-effective upgrade to get better bass from my sistem? My dealer recommended upgrading the power amp to a 250. Would this work?
Appreciate all the advise.
Thanks in advance,
Stan

i have got a cd3.5 112/180 hicap and epos es22's adding the high cap to the 112 allowed the power amp to really grab hold of the speakers and extend the power and extension of the bass

Stan,
I have recently come back from a trip to the Middle East and if your room is anything like the standard over there (marble/stone floors and walls, huge spaces, undivided rooms) it is going to be difficult to get a good bass from any speaker there. However there is hope! What I did for a friend was to move his system to a small room in the house (that wasn't as huge or as open plan) and installed the system in there. Then we put a huge rug between the speakers and curtaining behind and with a liberal dose of large house plants we good a really fab result.
If these options are not open to you then I suggest looking around for other speaker choices.
regards
Dev

Thanks.
Tom-The floors are concrete with creamic floor tiles. Have a carpet over the floors (not wall to wall, but under the speakers and over 90% of the room). I do have dedicated cables from the mains.
Dev-Have got sliding doors (glass unfortunately) installed to get rid of the open plan and create a rectangular space. The room created is not large, approx 10x18feet. The speakers are along the larger wall around 7 feet apart and equidistant from the side walls. Have toed them in quite drastically since my listening position is pretty close to the speakers.
Have a lot of plants in the room, rug/carpet, thick curtains, can't really put curtains behind the speakers as per the decor in our room, but do you really think that a new power amp will not sort things out? I was also worried that the new power amp should not create its own set of problems!
Speakers are not really an option i have available (unless i get up the naim speaker path!)
Regards,
Stan

Would the 112+hi-cap have the same effect on the 150 and Intro2?
Don't mind buying the 250 really. HA.
Thanks,

Any possibility to place the speakers on the 10 ft wall? Usually this workes better, I think.

Everything makes a difference and you will find that tweaks and rearrangements and different stands and dedicated mains and moving the speakers and moving the plants and moving the bookshelves and chairs and furniture will all affect the sound.
Sooner or later you're going to want to stop moving furniture and just sit down and listen.
A 250 slotted into your system will, very likely, bring about the condition noted abover (where you just want to sit down and listen) sooner rather than later.
I mean, 250's are just great amps. Almost everybody who has one loves it. It would sound fantastic in your system.

I think adding a hicap to your 112 will help but depending on your room materials may not have the desired effect, but if you dont't mind getting a 250 then do it(I shall one day!) .......this appears to be the cornerstone amp for most naimophiles..
Or audition both and see what fits

Stan,
if your not very happy with the bass and your room doesn't lend itself to bass reproduction then why don't you consider a sub-woofer?

Buy the 250mk2 id you can.
I did'nt real discover what truly deep controlled bass sounded like until I replaced my 150 (which was doing an Ok job) with a 250.
Only problem is you will then start worrying about wether the 112 should be upgraded, and so on.

Thanks for all the replies.
250 it is then.
Just wanted to make sure that i was making the right decision, and that the 250 was the next step for me.
And Geoff P i know that i'll be thinking of the 112 next. We're all human!
Take care you all,
Stan

Thanks Erik.
I started out this way, but the decor of my room did not allow me the flexibility of placing the speakers where i would get the best sound.
So went for the other option which works fine except for the bass.
Take care,

Will i need to also hi-cap the 250 or will FC2 be able to power the 250 and 112?
Thanks,
Stan

The 250 powers itself. The Flatcap powers the 112. The signal out cable from the Flatcap goes to the 250. (You lucky b****r)
A hi-cap would power either CD5 or 112 leaving the FC2 to power the other, until of course you get a second hi-cap
Then comes the 282 to replace the Nait5 (oops these are my upgrade dreams) I mean 112
which can be powered from a hi-cap
Enjoy the journey
