Lingo 1, what can I expect?

Posted by: trickytree on 17 August 2003

Dear all.

Following the demise of my old Sansui SR222 I now have no way of playing my 45 rpm records.
The cheapest option would be to buy another S/H deck, but as were going to be moving house next year space may well be at a premium,(the Hi-Fi has its own bedroom at the moment).
As I dont want to bother with the Linn 45rpm adapter I have been toying with the idea of a S/H Lingo mk.1 as this would presumably improve the whole front end as well as adding push button convenience.
So, what I would like to know is

1. How much of an improvement can I expect over my valhalla?
2. Are they reliable?
3. Iv'e heard mention of a A.L.Weeke,s modified Lingo, what is it?

Paul; in order
1. You will be sorry you did not get one earlier. The hype is true.
2. Only very.
3. I have no knowledge.

Do it.

1. More pace. 45 rpm works much better. A choice of pretty LED switch colours depending on speed selected!

2. Generally. A linn service agent should be able to sort out any probs.

3. This involves removing the input filter on the mains side - not to be attempted unless you are proficient with a smouldering iron. More details John's site or discussion thread here on Naim Forum - HTH.
