Eek ! I see ghosts in my TV

Ok I just bought a Sony Blu-ray player and every movie looks really bad with lots of ghosting. I thought I set it up correctly. Am I missing something ? I have a 46" Sony XBR4, Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray, I use HDMIs that are 1 meeter in length.

HDMIs? You only need 1 HDMI cable. And no other connection to the TV at all. How are you using more than 1? There is only 1 HDMI output on the player isn't there?

My girlfriend had her DVD player hooked up with both HDMI and Component for a while - That definitely degraded the picture quality - even though the TV can only look at 1 input at a time.

My XBR6 and BDP-S350 were perfect out of the boxes.

Don't let anybody tell you that you need a better quality cable ($$$!) - the differences are negligible at 1m length (although yours could perhaps be faulty).

sonyguy: this has most probably somethig to do with settings on you tv and/or your bluray player. I'm not familiar with Sony hardware and menus, but I'd start by deactivating any post processing effect, picture ehancement and so on. Try to swith off anything that tells you it will make a better picture and watch again. If nothing seems to work, your hdmi cable might be deffective, I've seen that before. Good luck!

I had this problem with a Sony Rear projection 50". Turned out that it needed a software upgrade. I don't know whether you can do this yourself or whether you need an expert (mine was fixed by a Sony qualified engineer). Have a look at Sony's support site and see if you can find anything.
As a test, call up the TV menu while you have a HDMI input selected and see if there is ghosting around the menu options. If so, then a software update is what you need.
