Friedly Competition

Strong rumour has it that the venue for the Olympics of 2012 is a two horse race between London and Paris. With the other majors trailing badly. The fate of this contest is being settled in sleepy Brisbane on the other side of the planet.
Major talking point is the venues for the hit event in Sydney, the womens beach vollyball.
Paris will be under the tower while London will be where they parade the horses.
I suggest Paris, lets keep Royalty at arms length.

Easy for you Lomo. We have a Royal wedding coming up, even though very, very few people are interested. Maybe the message will finally get through to them that are not wanted anymore.
Anyhow...it would be good to see 2012 in London, and no reason why they couldn't do the womens beach volleyball 50 miles south here in Brighton.

The volleyball will be at the sexyist Olympic setting of all time, namely Horseguards.

Does that mean that if William gets married and there's national and international hysteria everyone wants them again - or can't you see that happening?

From news reports I get the strong impression that the long term benefits for the cities that host the Games are not as good as the short term benefits. All the facilities that are built are commonly reported as being under-utilised once the Games have gone. I wonder if the decision to bid for hosting is like a fever which takes hold of bureaucrats and disables any long term view.

A bit like New Zealand and the America's Cup Deane, it sure put you on the word wide map.
