Unable to play 5.1 tracks

I'm trying to play the "bonus" tracks on a Porcupine Tree album Lightbulb Sun. Bonus CD is a DVD so obviously it doesn't play in the CDP.
Both iMAC (inbuilt DVD player) and DVD player both play the tracks without sound, regardless of whether 5.1 or stereo audio.
Have I missed some settings or something?

It's because it's a DVD-A disc Howard - unusually there's no dts/DD tracks on it.

It's only the 3 x 5.1 bonus tracks though all the other stuff on the DVD is OK.
Would only those tracks be DVD-A?

Not all of the audio would play, ie the extra tracks, on my MB Pro with DVD Player. No problems with VLC though.

Funny I've just put the disc into the Oppo and you get a couple of extra options on the audio set up which you don't on the MB. Advanced resolution 5.1 and Advanced Resolution 2.0.

Yes, I guess so. Looking at the disc it's a bit confusing - I imagine you must be listening to the "Original 2000 stereo album mix", so no 5.1.
The first three tracks are 5.1 or 24 bit stereo DVD-A tracks.

That would appear to be it, strange though.
I assume iMAC can't read DVD-A?
Why do I think we have been here before?
