I saw a lot of flash and theatrics but little talent. I thought it funny that the country group got best new group, and what's not to like fronting Leon Russell on piano. After that I turned it off and went to bed.

You aren't kidding about the flash but no substance. It kind of explains why mainstream pop holds so little interest for some folks these days.

I was not surprised to see the appalling general standard of "music" performed and rewarded. A couple stood out for me, though. I thought The Dave Matthews Band were pretty good; And I was surprised that the rap number with Eminem and L'il Wayne wasn't too boring. Not my style really, but OK nonetheless.
Taylor Swift is completely overrated IMHO. Nothing remotely interesting about her or her music.
