Flash Remote

Posted by: Paul B on 07 August 2001

"Expert" comments (or otherwise from the common folk) invited on the use of the Flash remote.

What does it do (differently/anything)? How much do these things cost? (UK) (I know that it comes with the CDS2 but I really don't need a CD player as well.)

Hi Paul,

The unit was not scratched in the original package, but after one year of careful use I suddenly noticed that one corner has turned blue. I don't recall touching anything with it, but it's the only logical explanation I can find. On the back the blue appeared where there is a small scratch. The worrying thing is that you can rub off the paint very easily.
As Steve Caterall's post shows, I'm not the only one with this problem. Maybe it's a series of Flash remotes who have this problem. Mine is from the 153xxx series.
Thanks for your kind offer to have a look at the unit. I really appreciate it. I'll send you the Flash tomorrow so that you can have a look at this phenomenon.

Ciao!

DCM1 (?),

When purchasing a CDSII do you have to buy the Flash also?

Yes, it's part of the package. As far as I know there is no possibility to order a CDS II without Flash remote.

Ciao!

The remote that came with my NAC82 does a grand job of controlling my Linn CD player; and the Linn remote lets me control my NAC82. I don't see what the problem is confused .

I am useless at computer type things, eg I still cannot fathom out how to use the smilees.

However, I find the flash remote dead easy to use and it looks and feels good.

Its a pity about not being able to operate the tuner but for the Cd, its an absolute doddle.

Regards

Mick

i dont believe it. next time you send a posting, include the following sequence of characters next to each other and see what it looks like:

a colon, followed immediately by a capital D

or a semicolon followed immediately by closing round parenthesis, i.e ")"

there is an eaier way though, you can simply click on the smiley icons at the bottom of your posting and the appropriate graphics will be added to the end of your message.

however, i do not believe you are missing anything by not using smileys.

smile frown red face big grin wink razz cool roll eyes mad eek confused

enjoy

ken

ps: oh, subject to what i said in another posting, i quite like the Flash too -- i havent tried any other remote gismo though, so this may be considered a biased and uninformed preference!!!

Flash -- battery consumption?

Members,

I seem to be putting new batteries in every 3/4 weeks (yes, the right 'AA' ones)and I only use it once or twice an evening. The rest of the day it sits in 'auto' mode, alseep on the shelf.

What are yor experiences, apart from the fact alot of members don't like it!

Phil

P.S. could not find a thread which mentions eating batteries as being an issue?

I've not replaced the batteries in mine since purchasing my CDS2 back in June. I can't recall whether the batteries were new at that time, or the old ones from the store (it we a demo). However, I don't use mine much (maybe once a week), but it's always lighting up whenever it senses me moving around the room.

This is really funny. It's now two-years-less-a-month since I purchased my CDS2, and the batteries in the Flash finally gave up the ghost. So I go to change them, and discover that I need a bloody allen key to get it open. Now I have to go to the hardware store just to get the cover off this stupid thing. Sheez!!!

The allen key was supplied with my Flash.

So now I have to find the hardware. It might be in this box, or that box, or perhaps that box over there. Oh, f*ck it. It's easier to go to the hardware store.

Whoever thought up this aspect of the Flash's design should be fired.

Mike,

Wait until you have the fun of actually replacing the batteries and getting the damn thing to work again before you decide who should go first.

Some of you guys are too intelligent for your own good.

I am bloody useless at pc stuff, my secretary ribs me mercilessly over it. Having said that, I find the Flash a doddle to maintain and use.

The batteries gave up last week after 18 months regualr use. I got the Naim allen key, undid the cover and removed the old one and replaced the new ones after the obligatory 10 minute wait.

It worked....dead easy.

Mick....who has just spent an hour assembling the Ron Smith Galaxie 17 aeriel which arrived this morning.
