VAN MORRISON PERFORMS ASTRAL WEEKS, HIS CLASSIC ALBUM,
AT TWO LANDMARK CONCERTS : ROYAL ALBERT HALL

Multi-award winning musical legend Van Morrison will take to the stage to play 'Astral Weeks', his classic album, at two landmark concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 18 April and Sunday 19 April.

The two concerts mark the very first time that Van Morrison has performed his revered 1968 album, Astral Weeks, in the UK, he will also perform many of his classic hits. The UK concerts follow last November’s sell-out, rave-reviewed performances at LA’s Hollywood Bowl. The album of these shows, 'Van Morrison’s Astral Weeks: Live At The Hollywood Bowl’ was released on 7 January 2009 to huge critical acclaim.

Joining Van Morrison on stage in April will be an orchestral string section and a band of world-class musicians, some of whom played with Van Morrison on the original ‘Astral Weeks’ recording sessions some 40 years ago. Concert-goers will get to hear new live arrangements of the album’s classic songs such as,’Astral Weeks/I Believe I’ve Transcended’, ‘Beside You’, ‘Slim, Slow Slider’/I Start Breaking Down’, ‘Sweet Thing’, ‘The Way Young Lovers Do’ and ‘Ballerina’.

While I wasn't that excited about the album I would love to see him at the Royal Albert Hall - a bit far for me right now. Well, he might bring his show down under as well.

Lets hope that he's up to travelling with it.
Managed to see John Martyn revisit Solid Air last year, hope that's not an omen.

Have been told by a friend that tickets for this start at £39 and go up to £200.

Despite the quality of music Van Morrison has made over the years, it does seem that he has little, or no respect for his fans, and just squeezes them for every penny he can.

I know I would/will happily pay the same to see Led Zeppelin, so each to their own.

Tickets at RAH still available at £110 and £200, plus £11 and £13 respectively per ticket booking fee.

£426 plus travel for Mrs JWM and me to see the famously variable-in-performance Van Morrison? Hmmm....

How does booking a £200 ticket cost more than a £110 one , bloody rip off merchants.

I've love to go, but best seats, travel, hotel, plus a few shillings for fun totals £1000 for two.
That's the same price as fours days luxury boutique camping for two at WOMAD!
