SBL's to SL2's, is it worth it?

First time postie, pls excuse if protocols not observed.
Hi, just thinking about moving up from my SBL's. The logic says listen to SL2's but I could do with some feedback before I move much further forward.
Not least given I could use the money to get a CDS2 or s/h NAC52. Amp is a new 250 with 32.5 Pre Amp and new style Hi-Cap.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thx
Tim

Before SL2's sort out your front end with the CDS2, the SBL's are good enough to reveal the extra quality.
Likewise a 52 and supercap would be worthwhile improvements

Many believe the SBL to SL2 is a sideways step, but you have a new 250 and new HiCap with a 32.5? Try a 52 against a new 282 (as you are going new look).

Guys
Thanks for all of these.
If anyone else wants to add something please do so.
Thanks again

Tim, you don't say what your current source is, but unles you have specific problems with the SBL's this doen't look like your weak link by a long shot.
I suspect source and/or preamp are where you should be looking.
As for the SL2. I like them. But they are expensive and the move from SBL to SL2 may not be the most cost effective.

I've just auditioned a new pre amp (282) and power supply (XPS2) in the context of my system, and my SBL's showed up the differances easily - point being I was considering a speaker change as an option until I heard what the SBL's were actually capable of...
I would at least home demo potential upgrades further up the chain 1st before doing anything...
Both the 282 and the XPS2 bolted onto a CDX2 ramped up the bsss in therms of depth and defintion, as well as a general lifting of clarity and timing...
I would not change my SBL's until both the above are in my system + a new 250 (to be purchased autumn 2004 ish hopefully)..

Welcome Tim
Get the hell out of here before you have no money at all!
We're all mad you know.
Seriously though; I've had my SBL's since 1995, with a variety of old and new style kit. I've tried SL2's at home and decided to keep my SBL's and have ended up with a CDS3 - 252 - 250 driving them.
The SL2's are better of course, but I have a problem with their price. I also don't like the look of them.
Oh; and you must have Fraim, by the way.
Good luck.

I have also had regular exposure to JNs system, and I encouraged him in his plan to upgrade to 252/Super instead of changing speakers.
cheers, Martin

There are people out there who think SBLs are OK with the top gear too!
Wow
