N-vi and N-sub

Hello experts. I wonder if someone can help me with this one: still trying to get the n-sats and n-subs balanced with the n-vi. As per recommendation on this forum I'm now taking a feed from the speakers to the n-sub rather than the direct line from the sub out on the n-vi (though still use this for DVDs). However, CDs still sound poor. Been re-reading the n-sub manual and it suggests that for AV processors the n-sub filter should be set at max (250) as the processor already incorporates low pass filtering. 2 questions then: does this setting apply to the N-vi too? and should the n-sub channel be set to aux or amp if I'm taking an out from the speakers...Sorry for lengthy mail but I heard some n-sats through a Supernait on Sat (albeit through a fab CD player) and they sounded like different speakers.

Check in the nVi that its not doing bass output all the time, I forget what its called now.

I think you mean Bassmix? Bassmix is on which the manual suggests "routes the front left and right speaker low freq signals to the sub" - which I assume it needs?

Oh right, well naim know best.

I just think if you have front speakers set to large on the NVI then bassmix out to them as well perhaps its all a bit much, perhaps try it with them off?

Personally I use the bass out on the NVI

One other thing. I am not sure which amp you are using, but the supernait is significantly superior to the nVi interms of sound quality. If you are using the nVi as a one box solution then its not fair to compare it to a supernait.

yes - using N-Vi as one box solution but hopefully not for much longer. Thanks for the response.
