Suffolk murders
Posted by: Rasher on 13 December 2006
I don't get it. Ipswich red light district is what, 2-3 streets? I don't understand how 5 girls can be murdered over a short period without the police being to be able to catch the killer. They know the killer will operate within these streets right now, and they know who the targets are. There are probably 45 girls at risk there at a guess. How difficult can it be to look after them?
I think it was the Torygraph that said this week that Suffolk police are the least capable force in the country to deal with a major incident. Why are they not immediately bringing in assistance from the forces that caught the Yorkshire Ripper & Ian Huntley? I would have thought that would be the first thing they would do. This is another cock-up (pun unintended).
It'll be the usual suspect: known sex offender/murderer released back into the community 3 months ago.

You are arguing against arguments that no one has used.
No one has suggested that street walking prostitute are lesser than a sunday school teacher, no one I repeat no one has suggested it. Neither has anyone said they deserve to be raped and murdered.
You read postings and attribute things to them that are not there.
You are begining to sound like an uneducated fool. Read things properly and for goodness sake stop using Hitler in your discussions because over exageration dimminishes your point.

Dear Friends,
Perhaps I cannot so easily deal with the 'reported facts,' so far, in this case, as many here. But the one thing we all need to remember is that we are all born the same way - equal - and we all die. The difference between the good and less good is how they behave. There is no other differentiation. Lord X can easily be a less worthy inividual than say, ex-miner [now unemployed], Gwyn Jones of South Wales!
There can be no doubt that the attitude that a prostitute "is asking for it - being abused or even killed" is rather parallel to Facists terming Gypsies, Jews, homosexuals, amd Poles, [etc] as undesirables and killing them. Thereby hange a tail of evil, revitalised... Other people don't diserve it. Now if I go to a shop tidily dressed, do I diserve to be charged more, simply because I made the effort to turn myself out nicely, rather than some drug crazed aristocrat [Lord Bristol for example] who perhaps turned out in yesterdays clothes on occasion!
I think not. Whilst it is right enough to lack sympathy for those whom any one of us may consider less admirable and upstanding than ourselves, a human live reamains just that - a human life, priceless - and none of us are so blessed with the certainty of Solomon about the value of any indiidual life, unless, perhaps we have taken unto ourslves the wisdom of a god, or the certainty of a Nazi.
The reason five murders in a small in East Anglian market town is remarkable is for reason that is it is so rare. So the over-heated media naturally turn their various attentions to it. Every day people die, but not often are five girls murdered in a small market town in Britain within a couple of weeks.
One may not altogether sympathise with the fact that 'apparently' these girls from Suffolk were feeding a drug habit by selling their bodies [sic], but in no way should that, as compassionate humans, diminish thour response of revulsion of the demise of these girls.
I find the lack of comapssion here, and here abouts, deeply distasteful, and demeaning of the individuals whom demonstrate it, and also of our society as whole. I am sure almost all others, not least at this festive time of years in Christian Britain, will find very little sympathy for these misguided, and 'holier than thou' indiduals, and will share my hope for an early resolution, through the normal system of justice in UK, that the guilty parties in these murders should face fair trial and be judged, and punished as is correct in relatively civilsed UK, rather than presuming on the quality of the girls who have died.

Prostitutes have clients. It is far more common for prostitutes to be mistreated by men than it is for men to be mistreated by prostitutes.

You have a habit of viewing the world through rose tinted glasses which although nice is not realistic.
This is a competitive society and like any other competitive society, there are winners and losers.
These girls are losers, they are not bad but they are foolish for allowing themselves to get into the position they found themselves in.
There is nothing wrong in prostitution per se, but if I was to become a prostitute, the last thing I would do is hang around on street corners dealing with a bunch of low life punters who can only afford £20 for a back alley thrill.
They can work from a well furnished secure flat, with a mobile and charge top dollar for upmarket services that men are prepared to pay for. Being a prostitute can be lucrative.
Hopefully the remaining girls in the area will treat this episode as a lesson in life and re evaluate they way they work.

Society might be competitive, but living in it is not a game in which there are winners or losers. If there are winners and losers - and prostitutes are the losers - then the illicit drug manufacturers/dealers are the winners; and I am certain that they are not.
Imagine the life of the women who suffer the plight of existing in street prostitution. To reduce the matter to simply one of choices that the women need to make to improve their lot, is to shrink their problems to a tiny moment in time when they made choices whose outcomes they could not see or were not educated to avoid.
I think your reasoning is simply a means by which you avoid either guilt, or the pain that might come from empathising with their suffering. To be honest with you, I rather suspect that the former is the case.

[QUOTE] You are arguing against arguments that no one has used.
I have not said that anyone has made such an argument, on the contrary I point this out. Ergo it is you that is arguing against arguments that no one has used you perfect fool. If you laid off the Christmas booze for a few minutes your head might clear a little.

I have not suggested anyone has said that a street prositute is less than a sunday school teacher although you have said the murder of street prostitutes is not worthy of the fuss. This proves you can not read.
The evidence is quite the contrary and is there for all to see.quote:You read postings and attribute things to them that are not there.
quote:You are begining to sound like an uneducated fool.
Read what I said again without making assumptions and you will see how wrong you are. The Hitler analogy is not an exageration. I am sure he would have agreeed with you that the life of a street prostitution is worth less than the life of others. In that at least (he would have sided with Pinochet too I feel)you and he are the same.
Your reply has shown you to be as witless as ever. The fact is you are really not very bright and although you can dish it out you cant take it at all. I would shove off if I were you, you are clearly out of your depth here as else where. In the meantime Happy Christmas
