Internet Radio

Now that I'm of an age when BBC Radio 4 seems to be the only good terrestial radio station in the UK, I'm increasingly listening to Internet Radio.
My favourite at present is Radio Paradise which plays mainly AOR music and doesn't have ads.
It streams at 128k and 192k mp3 and 128k AAC, the AAC stream sounding the best to me.
I'd like to expand my internet radio horizons further, any suggestions?

If it is something like BBC radio4 NPR is an obvious choice. It is not on radio4 quality level but in my view nothing really is. You can stream it from
http://www.whyy.org/91FM/whyy.asx This works on my SBR receiver.

Thanks, Claus
I was also hoping for some suggestions for good music stations

Hi Steve,
May I ask what you mean with AOR music ?
I mainly listen to Radioio.com radio stations.
The quality is reasonable (128k). They do have some (annoying) ads though.
regards,
Alco

AOR is a term that used to be used more than now. It stands for Adult Orientated Rock. The term rock is pretty loose as well.

I listen to bits from
soma fm, some consider it a bit West Coast but lots of
choice. Works with Windows and works with Ubuntu if using VLC.

Bluebit.com streams at high bitrates (I think more than 192) and it is free!

Depending on how cheasy you like your music, I like listening to Wave 105 as it plays music from my eras (70's onwards) without overemphasis on the modern rubbish out there.
It does have adverts though which can be very annoying at times...

I was reminded today about another excellent if eclectic station: FIP from Paris

FIP, yes very good music, but you will enjoy it better if you are not in Paris. Their traffic reports may be quite irritating if you are stuck in them.

I have another advantage: my french is pretty poor so I don't understand most of it

My favorite web station is the jazz on 89.9 TSF from Paris. Not AOR, but if you want an alternative. Streams at 128.
Haven't done a lot of searching, though. It is a staff favorite preloaded in Sqeezebox.
