You didn't think I'd forget, did you?!!!

England have been making heavy weather to start off with against Bermuda, but it should all be over soon.

How long does this World Cup go on for, does it end this year?

Anyway, to help pass the time, here’s some sledges and retorts from years gone by.

Rod Marsh to Ian Botham
“How’s your wife and my kids”
Botham “The wife’s fine and the kids are retarded”

Mark Waugh to English bowler Jimmy Ormond when he came out to bat
“F… me mate, what are you doing here? There’s no way you’re good enough to play for England”
Ormond “Maybe not, but at least I’m the best player in my family”

Unnamed Glamorgan pace bowler to Viv Richards after he plays and misses
“It’s red, round and weighs about five ounces, in case you were wondering”
Richards, after he hits the next ball out of the ground “You know what it looks like, now go and find it”

Javed Miandad to Merv Hughes “You’re a fat bus conductor”
Hughes, after he dismisses Miandad a few balls later “Tickets please”

Ian Healy to Arjuna Ranatunga, afer Ranatunga calls for a runner
“You don’t get a runner for being a fat, unfit, overweight c…”

Ian Healy to Shane Warne, again referring to Ranatunga
“Put a Mars bar on a good length, that should do it”

Merv Hughes to Robin Smith “You can’t f…… bat mate”
Smith, after blasting the next ball for four “Hey Merv, we make a fine pair, I can’t f……. bat and you can’t f…… bowl”

And, famously, Glenn McGrath to West Indian batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan
“How does Lara’s cock taste mate?”
Sarwan “I don’t know mon, you’d have to ask your wife.”

Was?

Oh yes, I forgot: Australia's peaked too soon.

And we peaked after the tournament was over - shame really with no chance to build on our convincing win over the Windies.

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict Australia will win it.

Australia vs Sri Lanka - I think two of the best three teams are in the final.

Deane F - you bastard, you jinxed the Black Caps with your confident prediction Big Grin

The Sri Lankans have upped a gear - but it's still a big ask. I'd love to see them win, along with most other 'non-Aussies' on the planet I would say.
Not that I'm biased or a bad-losing Pom........lol!
Aus 281-4 (38 overs)
SL 106-1 17 overs

Bit harder now, 124-2 from 20 overs. Sangakkara gone but still plenty of batting. More or less at the same score the Aussies were at this stage. The required run rate is creeping back up again, but perhaps it will become the 'Jayasuriya Show' (as if it wasn't already the 'Gilchrist Show'!). Hope so.

Errrmmm....maybe not! Jayasuriya gone for 63, SL 145-3 now and behind on D/L - rain imminent.

All over, Aussies are World Champs again. Steve, time to wheel out that bloody shark again!

Bit of a farce in the end, but a good result.

We're so good we won the same game twice! Big Grin

And that about wraps it up!

At least I got one prediction right.
