SL2 Demo.

Well, first of all a big thank you to all at The Audiofile in Bishops Stortford and to Paul Darwin for their time and hospitality. Lots of tea, not too much chat, and lots of varied music.
The SL2 is to my mind a very attractive speaker. Even in my prefered black-ash that the demo models were in, most present commented positively. The curved front shrinks them most effectively.
As to the sound, well, maybe with my system I'm easily impressed, but they were everything I hoped they'd be and the difference between £2000 (Allaes) and £5000 suddenly became unimportant...I wanted them. The music flowed wonderfully, the drums kicked when given a bootful and high hats shimmered very realistically. I don't want to sound like a rag mag journo, so I'll stop here!
The short of it for me is I can't afford them, but the Allaes are looking ever closer.
Once again, thanks to all, and enjoy that beer tonight, Paul!

Could you tell us more about the dem - what equipment was used - and what else you heard. Do you feel they are better than SBL's

Bare CDX, 82, hi-cap, 250. All on a very nice Fraim. The speakers are 1 of only 2 pairs in existence, and have been doing a dealer-tour, so are well run-in, just needed some warm-up time.
I'm afraid my only recent experience of the sbl has been with a diet of LP12, so.....no, wait a minute...you've got it! Maybe to the die-hard vinyl fans amongst us this could be the answer.
All I can say with any certainty is that Paul reckons they should be in production by the middle of June, -ish, suppliers allowing, maybe.
To most dealers one big benefit is the lack of any sealant application, so home dems should be easier than with the sbl.
And that decoupled tweeter is worth seeing before the whole caboodle is fully assembled.
By the way, my system is playing away downstairs at the mo, and I'm still happy with it, so life can go on!

Based on recent experience my dealer reckons the SL2s have some way to go until they'll tempt SBL users. Are they still being developed?
