The art of moving an LP12 without damage is to prevent stress to anything. Remove anything heavy and massive that could result in damage.
Remove platters (inner and outer)and fit bearing cap to prevent oil escaping (tip: if you find suitable items to support the inner platter once removed, you can let the oil that is still on the spindle drip back into the bearing housing, preventing excessive loss.
On a gimballed arm removing the counterweight is adequate for a car journey. In your case I'd definitely remove the ARO, and package it carefully, cartridge (and stylus guard) still fitted.
Put the LP12 into the original box, if possible, the box has packing details printed on one of the flaps.
