This years worst buy ....
Posted by: Steve O on 22 November 2009
I've just bought 'Here to save your soul' by the Jim Jones Revue on CD.
This must be the worst sounding recording I have heard in years. With the volume knob at 8 o'clock it is deafening. On a scale of 1 to 10 for loudness of recording it measures 25. They shouldn't be allowed to sell shit like this.
What is the worst sounding CD you have bought this year?
Regards,
Steve.

I didn't buy it fortunately, but my friend JN did buy an album by Ainsley Lister that was on a par with Hot Fuss by The Killers for sheer incomprehensible noise. Far better on an iPod or in a car which it was obviously mastered for.

That would be his new release 'Equilibrium' Very poor production values. Supakev and Pilchards-much better. My own opinion of this guy is diminishing. After a recent concert of his I happened to ask him why he played nothing on his national (resonator guitar)
Answer- "I forgot to bring it".
I mean, does he have Proffesional Musician down as occupation on his passport or not?

In retrospect, wish I hadn't spent £10 on Mediaeval Baebes, 'Illumination'.

I would suggest sending back albums that are mastered in this way, you would do the same with a new pair of shoes that split, this is just the audio equivalent.
If you want the music, if they are mastered for MP3, don't pay for the CD and get the MP3s (however you wish to).
