Kruder and Dorfmeister Projects

Posted by: Markus on 02 October 2003

Here's the background to this request:

My brother told me he was going to shop for new audio equipment. Of course, I immediately looked up his local dealer (in S.F.) and gave him a short audition program--what equipment, what order, etc.

He went down and auditioned Nait 5 and 112/fc2/150 and REALLY enjoyed it, especially through some $3000 or so Wilson Benesch speakers.

What got me thinking was his selection of music, in particular his use of Peace Orchestra. After our phone call I was way on the K&D/Peace orchestra wavelength. So I put on Peace Orchestra (it has been a while) and really enjoyed it. What a sonic and studio masterpiece! Yes, a little "polished" but what the hell! It was great. I continued on in this vein with Suzuki remixes and K & D sessions. Which leads me to my question and the purpose of this post.

Given that I own Peace Orch/Suzuki in Dub/F__k Dub remixes/K & D sessions, what do you recommend is next? With so many releases and so many other groups competing for my music dollars I'd prefer to buy diamonds only, no dogs.

Recommendations, anyone? Oh, and feel free to diverge off the K & D track to mention other producers you think are comparable.

Thanks,

Markus

I agree with your recommendations so far (in that I have heard some of them).

Ninjatune releases seem to hold to a very high and consistent standard. I enjoy the new Bonobo "Dial M for Monkey" quite a bit.

In my older age I seem to enjoy the downtempo vibe quite a bit and am less attracted to sounds that thrash too much.

Please keep 'em coming.

check out wagon christ's "throbbing pouch" (second album on rising high) it's flubbing great..

on a downbeat production tip, early autechre is amazing, especially "lowride" and "the beast" palmskin productions - autechre remix. (also check out incunabula - their first album).

there's a mo-wax 3 disk compilation called "headz" which is very good, but i think it was vinyl only and quite limited (i have 2 copies on vinyl).

Peace Orchestra Reset. Gotan project.
Any of the 'Black Coffee' compilation CD's.
Richard Dormeister's 'Different drummer' selection is not bad.

Kid Spatula,

You're showing off--TWO copies on vinyl? Whaddya, a millionaire? Wink

Yes, the headz compilations are great--mine are all on cd and I've got headz 1 and headz 2 both A & B sets.

Last night picked up the Fast Asleep set by Funki Porcini. What I've heard so far seem good. I sure like the cover photo! And lucky for me, my vinyl copy was only $7!

On the Wagon Christ/Luke Vibert tip, I've always wanted a copy of Big Soup but have lost out on bidding on ebay...

Keep those cards and letters coming folks,

Markus

i have big soup on vinyl, but just the one copy this time Smile

as for headz, i saw another copy for £8 and just thought it was worth having as a backup.

sad, i know.

i also have 3 copies of computerwelt by kraftwerk (in case they wear out!) and 2 copies of radioactivity (what an album....)

sad, i know.

What should not be missed is Peter Kruder's Remix of "Auto-Power" from Chateau Flight. An excellent piece of music, but I believe is only on vinyl - where there's quite a few other singles and collaboration work he's done.
