supercapping a prefix.

I currently use a hicap with my prefix. What is the magnitude of improvements brought about by the introduction of a supercap? In what areas are these improvements found - increased prat, tunes, rythmic abilities etc etc?? My guess is more of everything (MUSIC) but any experiences are more than welcome.

LP12,arrow,lingo,Clearaudio victory,52,500,nbl's - all on Fraim.

I heard a cold Supercap vs warm Hicap in my home system and the difference was not small despite it using only part of the Supercaps capacity

Larger soundstage, tighter bass, lower surface noise (YES that surprised me too!)etc, etc

There have been several threads on this but do the demo.

[I stayed with hicap BTW but only because the 552 powered prefix is apparently better still]

Very interesting. Just to get this straight are you saying that:-

A 552/552PS system with a prefix is better than

A 552/552PS system with an additional supercap for
the prefix?

If so then I only need to spend 11K to save 2.5!!

Thats wot Doug reckoned a few weeks back

Makes the 552 a bit more palatable. In lieu of Supercap (£2500), selling my Hicap for £400 and my 52 for say £3k. the 552 is "only" gonna cost me c. £6K

Think I'll have 2!
