NAIM-Streamer

Will there ever be something like the Squeezebox Touch from NAIM???
Practically a HDX without the CDP and the Harddisks...where you have a display and different connections (ethernet, USB....) and then feed it into a (THE) DAC???

Thorsten,
As long as it plays gapless, I support that request.

Due to the HDX, Naimnet servers, Uniti, pp Naim has got all the knowledge it takes to give us a "streamer" to put in front of the Naim DAC. I would like to see a device with a ripping engine, no internal hard drives and no touch screen - I prefer a iPod touch like thing as a remote control.
I think having a good ripping engine is great to have and than no need to worry about all the right settings when using a PC or Mac for ripping. I know that the CD ripping engine in the HDX is not magic at all, it is just ripping done 100% right, which one can do with a good CD/DVD drive, a good rip program and a PC/Mac, too, but not all of us are able or willing to find out the right settings. Therefore I would appreciate an integrated ripping engine.

They seriously need to look into this.
Hi AllenB,
I know a 6-12 months wait is a very long time (I still remember the HDX software upgrade!), but I think we should be happy that Naim is willing to show us early developments on shows.
The other possibility is not letting any information getting there as soon as the product is completely finished...
Regards,
Michel

I advocated that since seeing the launch of the HDX.
The HDX contains a lot of unneeded junk. An ideal client would be one that is stripped of the noise making, current sucking, power polluting gadgets inside and the rocket science to isolate them from each other, those include:
- The 2 hard drives
- The CD-Rom drive
- The Touch screen that no one ever touches
Just get a Squeezebox Classic or a Transporter and that is the perfect model. Naim knows jow to make good sound, Slim knows how to make a client that is usable and does not cost an arm and a leg.
Very easy, just strip everything.

But they they get constant questions ... when is Naim going to make a streamer? should I just go buy a Linn DS? etc, etc.
I don't think Naim can win either way!
