How to kill Yahoo?

Posted by: Mark J on 26 September 2009

In brief...downloaded AVG 8.5, didn't like it so uninstalled and d/l Avira free. Much better but but now whenever I search the net the results page says 'search results secured by AVG' and hosted by Yahoo?

I wouldn't mind but Google is the better search engine IMO. Anyone know how to revert the PC back to straight google search via Firefox?

Cheers

mark J, an idea that may be worth following is provided by Sun 1, Sun 2.

I would also suggest that you keep an eye upon your Super Flash Cookies as they too can be a problem.

A few days ago I fixed my uncle's FireFox system that was being plagued by a casino that had hijacked his Firefox home page. His cookies looked safe and untouched as FireFox deletes them at the end of each session so I then examined the so called Super Flash Cookies via the FireFox addon BetterPrivacy. This addon showed that 317 flash cookies were hiding in the Macromedia associated folders, I removed them and his system recovered.

I now have things set to allow no flavour of cookies to be carried over between sessions and he once more has a system that works as we intended.
