Picking up on later posts on the "Downsizing ..." thread (and others), a specific thread about QS supports seems overdue

.
Quadraspire have a dealer in Lulea in the North of Sweden (That damned country again
) so they should be thick on the ground further south, eg Malmö - Lars.
I requested info about QS-Ref from the Swedish contact given on Quadraspires web page - stating specifically that I already had a QS brochure but was wanting info about reference series. If anyone wants the duplicate brochure I was sent - with no details of the reference series - drop me a line. Someone at Quadraspire should get their act together here.
I also rang Quadraspire direct and recieved more help than I probably deserved given that it was late on a friday when I rang - yep, they were most helpful. Two A4 sheets arrived a few days later.
For what it is worth - and assuming that someone who has seen them in the flesh or owns ref stands will correct me - they appear from a distance to be the same as standard QS in form. However, there is much attention to detail once you get close up. There appears to be a separate base, with the table standing on this - decoupled. The upper shelf is also appears to be decoupled from the rest. The legs are not simple cylinders but appear to bell out at the base. There is also mention in the blurb about material choice for the legs and tables. Development has been done with help from Musicworks.
(Sorry for any errors as this is from memory.)

My own thoughts at the moment are to go for standard QS - family man who has just bought a 2nd hand 82 and all that. Although I will reserve judgement and see how the thread develops.

Anyone now how the price of the QS ref compares to the normal QS?

i've heard it/owned it and it is the biggest pile of crap i have ever put my equipment on. i don't know about the reference but all i can say is that the pricing for something that wobbles like your hifi is in the middle of an earthquake is taking the piss (and the manufacturers are quietly laughing behind your back)

Your having a larf...right ?
And whats all this about wobbling like your kit was in an earthquake - whats that got to do with anything ?

Qs *furniture* - four usable shelves costs 280 GBP, the same in Ref. spec. costs 580 GBP. It's well worth it though. I'm more excited about this upgrade of mine than any of the previous ones involving boxes. I'll hear what Mana can do though, just to be sure!
It's always a nice day for it, have a good one

Why has Dev B changed his name to 'The Real Hooch'?
I, like many of you, felt that Hooch, along with Jawed, was a real visionary in the field of audio. His rejection of conventional thinking (SBL's are only good enough for rear speakers, for example) and his total dedication to eliminating wobbly CD players showed his committment to us the consumer.
However, his worshipping at the temple of Mana showed us that he like other humans had faults, but his strengths far outweighed these minor foibles.
To pay tribute to him, I have dedicated this to be hooch day and according have assumed his persona, for one day only. I will therefore continue to slag off those barking idiots such as STALLION and anyone else who is a member of the NON FERROUS CULT.
Be be warned STALLION, that my powers are not just limited to hifi forum discussions, I am an expert in the field of prophecy and mind control. So if you continue to communicate with me in such a fashion I will curse you with a plague of lobsters and get John Watson round to cut off your gonads, you non-ferrous weenie boy.
I hope that helps by way of an explanation.
regards
Dev B

Is a sound bloke, no question, and we all miss him lots (he's rarely on these forums, sadly). I owe him some money, so if you're reading this Hooch, call me sometime, anytime (I keep missing you) and we'll arrange it ASAP (as I hate oweing people money).
As for QS - well, I owned it for a while and wasn't that impressed. At first, I liked it because it looked good. However, there's no way anyone could really call it better than Mana. It falls short in all departments by a country mile, except looks in which it is more easy to live with.
The QS-Ref? I haven't heard it, but those who know me know that if I felt it was better I'd end up buying one. However, I doubt that'll be the case but would like to hear one anyway...
