Most (or all?) of it had been on before but it was still worth watching. I love the 1971 BBC concert. I think he was at his peak around the After the Gold Rush/Harvest period.

I recorded it. Will watch it soon. I watched some doucmentary that was on after in the early hours - Hotel California I think it was called and it was excellent going through the late 60's/early 70's Los Angeles music scene from the Byrds through to the Eagles via CSNY and Joni Mitchell etc etc

I watched it and the concert and found Neil Young to have what I like in a person, Rebeliousness and shall be looking into his many albums soon. Also there is a great article in The Wire magazine called The Alternative Neil Young which is a good read.

Neil "shakey" Young is King. Cool

Some ups and downs, but I really appreciate his music. Even his last record, Chrome Dreams II, is a masterpiece..

I saw "The Last Waltz" as a young teenager at the local cinema. To be honest, most of it didn't make too much of an impression on my young mind - but burned into my consciousness forever was the image and sound of Mr Young telling me that "There is a town in North Ontario....".

It rings with poignancy to this day for me. A great, great performance (and Joni was also legend). It was the beginning of a long association with those two artists.

Wasn't this the night that had the first screening of a BBC documentary called Don't Be Denied ... ?

This is certainly the best piece I have seen on Neil Young and was done with his cooperation.

He is arguably the finest American musical genius of the last 40 years and the most important white musician since Hank Williams.

Yep, I enjoyed the show.

Hotel California was excellent as well.

If you liked the latter, dig out Barney Hoskyns book Hotel California upon which the documentary was based.

I was new to SoCal in '70 at 16yo, and from Philly with it's soul to sunny CA with beaches and blue sky, what a stroke of luck. Neil really stood out and he was great. Ontario is a very spiritual song.

I lucked onto a copy of Harvest and Gold Rush, then last year stopped by a garage sale and picked up Deja Vu to go with my CSN. Wow, amazing music.

Lontano, I'll have to find that Hotel CA film, I read a book on that scene. I came back from college in '76 Eagles at their height, Jackson Brown, Joni then Tom Petty hit around 81. Too bad I didn't have money to see them all.
