The coils have gone...

Ever since I bought my Nac A5 I have had two coils of the stuff under the hifi rack as the shop were rather generous with their tape measure and I got a couple of meters too much on each side.
As I did not want to cut it down, incase I ever need the full length, I coiled it up neatly.
This practice recieved some critisism, so at the weekend, I undid the coils and instead folded the excess back and forward behind an armchair.
I did not notice anything to start with, but on a bit more listening, particulary to quiter recordings, the noise floor has dropped, and the base is much more real, and can be felt more at lower volumes.
In the past where I might have had to turn the volume up a little to get the speakers to begin to sing, they are now working with more control at lower volumes than ever.
Some improvment may have come from the un pluging and pluging in of cables that have cleaned contacts etc, but I do that anyway from time to time without this level of improvment.
My advive, loose those coils and get some much longer folds in.
