connecting a think pad to my nac 72?

Gentelemen.

How do I connect my think pad to my nac 72. which input socket should I use? How high is the output from the pad? Are there anyway that the pc can tell me?

(I know I go against the source first principle, my apologies to those wo may take offence)

regards

Peter,

What are you planning to listen via your PC? laptop? mp3? streaming radio? WAV. files?

There are few sound cards that offer analogue outs. but, I have not tried to see if they are worth any. And you are right in that built-in DAC on lap top is not good at all even played via stereo systems.
A humble mp3 played with a decent DAC acutally gives you better sound.

The best way to play tunes via PC or laptop ( I use Mac Titanium ), is to get a decent external DAC and from this analogue outs connect to your preamp. Otherwise, I can guarantee it's headache inducing.

Hi!

I use an U2A connected via optical link to my CD recorder which is connected to my preamp. I switch the CD recorder to monitor mode so I can use the DAC of the CD recorder.
