Speakers: Naim versus Neat

Anyone care to comment on the differences in general?

Or perhaps the particular differences between, say, Naim SBL and Neat MFS?

I too sat with Evelyn at Oranges and Lemons and decided on Neat against B&W. My budget only fell to the Mystiques... but they sounded so alive compared with the CDM9s.

Personally I couldn't live with the SBL's as I mentioned earlier they are too bright and agresive for me.

Not wishing to contradict your own findings, which would be silly, but my own experience of SBLs is that they err towards the slightly dull at the top end.....notwithstanding this they are IMHO excellent speakers, I would go as far as saying that in the entire range that Naim have made, I regard the SBLs as the most quintessentially "Naim", and their synergy with Naim electronics is patently obvious, when heard

I cannot comment on Neat speakers, not having heard them....I guess that with all the other variables (eg room) taken into the equation,it`s best to try and buy whichever suits your own preferences

Hello all,

My first post on the forum by the way. What a fantastic community you all are - I have learnt so much about Naim gear and other titbits along the way.

My system is: CD5/FC2/NAC112/NAP150 feeding a pair of Rega Kyte speakers through NACA4 cable. I've had the Kytes for 10 years and have been very pleased with them, giving a remarkable sound for such a small speaker. I think I would really have to go some to find a suitable replacement. Neats may be beyond my range though. Very curious about the Arriva's and can't wait to hear a pair.

Regards,

JonR

Welcome to the forum Jon,

May I ask what your budget is for new speakers?

Sundance, please check your "Private Topics".

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......
