Tommy Hilfiger

Oprah Winfrey
I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. Statements like"..."If I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I would not have made them so nice. I wish these people would NOT buy my clothes, as they are made for upper-class white people."
His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES". Where after she immediately asked him to leave her show.

My suggestion?
Don't buy your next shirt or perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.

BOYCOTT. PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW.

I am sure this statment will have the same effect business wise as Mr Ratner calling his stock crap!

You seemingly assume it as fact ? I question motive (as always) why on earth should somebody so cannie, say such a thing ? where do any interests lie ?

Fritz Von If Blair told me the sky was blue, I'd have to look outside to confirm it, and this rubbish belongs in the same catagory, innit Big Grin

No problem I don't like his clothes(or his prices) so I'll boycott right or wrong.

To me it seems this forum's 'finest' are once again flexing their witch-hunting muscles now that Whacko isn't still in the frame. No proof of this supposed incident whatso'ever has been produced or established, but once again the 'tangent Merchants' merrily go off to justify their own personal weaknessess. Barring the very likely possibilty that the man is of Jewish extraction like most of the top notch rag trade world, and that Oprah is Black, this is almost a perfect scenario for the neo-cons is it not ?

Fritz Von None of you consider yourself anti-semitic naturally, and once again 'daftly or I suspect otherwise ?' fully sit on the sidelines adding fuel to a non existant fire, and wonder why your surrounding communities are so very screwed up, innit.

P.S. This ain't a rant, it's a fact, some of you folk seriously worry me at times, please just look at yourselves for a milli-second and try not to scream in fear for what you see Big Grin

Jesus Fritz, why get yourself so wound up over such a small thing and start flinging insults around this forum that you yourself frequent so, er, frequently? The Tommy Hilfiger thing is just some bullshit that people have had the credulity to believe without subjecting it to even three minutes of googling.

You don't believe everything you read in the papers, the internet or see on hte television do you?
Posted on: 01 July 2005 by Berlin Fritz
Deano me old Carrot, I'm not wound up in the slightest, and the actual so-called subject matter doesn't interest me in the slightest, what I do find frightening though is the apathy and sincerity of those earlier comments.

Fritz Von There are no insults there from me as far as I can see whatso'ever, and if that the case be, those aggrieved can naturally ask for my apologies as openly as they bandy lynch mobs & death sentences about, innit Cool

I think it WOULD help if you were to tell us when YOU saw this show.

If you did not see it - who did?

In the absence of evidence I think the thread is more interesting (thanks BF) for what it says about people's willingness to discuss unsubstantiated "facts" and reach conclusions they think might be true.

Did you know that "gullible" isn't in the latest edition of the OED?... etc etc.

Jeez why don't folk read before posting crap.

Plenty of reasons for not buying Tommy crap but racism isn't one of them.

LTD I've just double checked the name of the person who started this post. Does it sound like somebody's up to some mischief?

Nime,

According to No Logo (2001) all his clothes are manufactured by others:
Jockey International - underwear
Jeans London - Jeans
Oxford Industries - Tees
Stride Rite Corp - footwear

Things might have changed in the last 5 years though.
