chance of an XPS or supercap as second hand
Posted by: rocketeer on 18 November 2002
Hello
I wonder how big the chance is to get a second hand XPS. Why would someone sell this powersupply on its own (since there is no possible upgrade to a better supply)? Same question applies to supercap.

Hi - I think you may have more chance getting a S*Cap than an XPS. I believe Geoff at Acoustica has one he wishes to dispose of!

There is a steady supply of XPS's and Supercaps for sale at loot.com.
People obviously upgrade for whatever reason.

Hi Omer
quote:
Suppose someone has a ~year old CDX/XPS and he's still got problems like too much bass and others because of a non-supportive room.
The cdx/xps selling situation also came into my mind. Even if the cdx or the xps could go on their own then, the seller's intention surely is to sell them both at once. I cannot imagine any other situation where offering a s/h xps on its own would make sense. That's why i think the chance of getting a s/h xps (or even supercap) is very small compared to that of getting, let's say a s/h hicap or 82 or 250.

I agree with you but the fact remains there is a steady stream of second hand XPS's on the market,
go figure??

Change the question. Why would someone buy a CDSii head unit on it's own - because they already have CDX/XPS.
The seller probably then has to sell the XPS separately.
I would suspect that XPS' may trickle onto the market once XPSii become available. The name change would appear to be in response to some design improvements.
