I doubt it for any time soon. They are cheap to produce. They will go in time, of course.

Who ever was chairman/CEO of EMI 15 or 20 years ago probably said the same about vinyl records...

IMHO no because you still have to get the music onto the digital player to start with.

Given a choice between paying £8 for an iTunes album download and £8 for something I can look at, touch, feel etc. I know which I'd take.

On the other hand if iTunes begin to offer an £x for a CDs worth of music of a mix of my choice then my opinion might change quite rapidly.

But that's exactly what they do isn't it ?
You can pick and mix from what ever albums you like, you pay per track, don't you ?

Not quite what I mean. Say I like Band X and Band Y who have an album out, one is 30 minutes long, one is 70 minutes long but they usually cost the same.

What I would like is to be able to subscribe to a service where I can fill a CD (OK it's digital music but you get the point) for a fixed price.

Dreaming I know.
