Look out for this young lady, she is going to create some waves (album in May). Saw her last night supporting David Gray (he did a fantastic set incidentally). From a slip of a girl comes such a powerful voice. I was really impressed with what I heard. However, I hope that she does not turn out to be as disappointing as the recent female singers that I have bought (namely Adele and Duffy - maybe I need to just stop listening to Goldfrapp and Radiohead to give them more of a chance).

Have a listen.

Can I have Duffy if you don't want her, Neil?

She supported Duke Special last year and her musical and life partner is Ben Castle who plays sax with the Duke and is the son of the late Roy Castle. Live she is excellent but the first album is a compromise that doesn't really work. She has been tagged in with new Amy stories everywhere, which is a shame. I suspect she'll end up more a Sam Brown than a Winehouse as she doesn't have an image that will sell.

That voice is great though although the backing vocalists did make me think I was trapped in an episode of Ally McBeal at several points.
