I have recently downloaded a large number of old dance music radio shows in MP3 format and want to split them into individual tracks. Are there any good free tools that can do this?

Probably something like Audacity would be worth a go, as its free.

I was hoping for a recommendation,
based on personal experience of using the tool , for a free application that works well. Obviously I discovered Google in about 1999...

Sorry John, didn't intend to sound like an A R S E - but obviously I did.
I have used the editor supplied with Nero CD burning software to do it manually or used Adobe Audition for a more professional product and result.
A program that can split without recompression would be good (if one exists)..
I found this little tidbit in the help file for adobe audition
"Avoid compressing the same audio to mp3 more than once. Opening and resaving an .mp3 file causes it to be recompressed, so any artifacts from the compressing process become more pronounced."
